The Armada parade, 2019 edition.

Wednesday, June 12 was an exceptional event, the streets of Rouen were crowded with people for the parade. But certainly the most striking were the moments of sharing between the crews and the spectators. Moments of joy, of communion. It was just great. It was not just a parade, it was more than that: the exchanges between the crews and the spectators were incredible, spontaneous. Of course, the procession ended up no longer keeping up with the planned pace, but what does it matter when it gives happiness.
A real success due to the enthusiasm of all, a happy parenthesis in these current gloomy moments.
Opposite, a totally cute Cuauhtémoc sailor. He was dancing all the time and his good humor was contagious. He was aware of having fun while having a great time .... he must also be happy to know that soon he was going to go back to sea ...
Tribute to women

Thanks to all !
I was happy to see many women on the ships, a huge progress. Pretty, energetic, smiling and surely very valiant in a job that requires a lot of discipline. The sea does not forgive the word"nearly". I also do a little dedication to Louison (center photo), a volunteer with a contagious smile. Thank you ladies !
They arrive under high protection

A dense crowd that the police must manage to let the parade pass...

Professional photographers, volunteers, and spectators on Jean Lecanuet Street ...

The parade started from the Bridge William the Conqueror and ended at the Town Hall.

An acrobatic policeman who made sure that spectators were positioned well on the sidewalk ... not easy to manage the enthusiasm of people who absolutely wanted to be in the front row ... we were all like unruly schoolchildren who would have received a punishment in other circumstances.

"Dear all,
the day after the Armada which ends, it is not without a certain emotion that I am addressing to you.
The record attendance particularly marked this 2019 Armada, as well as the presence of exceptional ships like the Hermione or the three largest sailboats in the world, the Mir, the Kruzenshtern and the Sedov, but also the participation of more than 500 volunteers.
All this would not have been possible without the precious help of our "volunteers", their implication and their dedication.
They are the soul of this event which makes everything possible. From young to old, regulars, loyal to newcomers, trainees and professionals, they put on their sneakers to cover the 7 km of quays daily, braved the storm and gave their loyalty.
As with every end of edition, I am proud and moved to be surrounded by a united team and invested in a task that I know is not so easy. Many of them speak of passion, others of moments of sharing, for my part, beyond these feelings, it is the recognition that I address to them to date.
The time has come for me to send them my sincerest thanks. I leave the bar but do not cast off ...
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Warmly.
Patrick Herr "

Armada volunteers announce themselves with fanfare!

Volunteers with a capital "V ", they deserve it

You managed to make me do my first Ola!
I wanted to do it for your selflessness, enthusiasm and extreme kindness during this very successful, very populated Armada. You have never given up in the face of the indiscipline of the big ones often and, sometimes the small ones. You were always friendly and yet firm without being ever hurtful.
Bravo and thank you!

A "Kiltissime" final
