The belly party - 2018 Edition

On this Saturday, October 13, we left with one of my aunts and her husband to introduce them to the Belly Festival where local artisans and elsewhere showcase their products.

A friendly atmosphere, discoveries, delicious food, colors and lots of people

A party with fanfare thanks to music from different eras. From yesterday to today .

We returned broken but delighted.

Placid, this magnificent cat perched on its 2nd floor window looked at us, humans, with its almost condescending gaze.

I imagined myself being him, wondering what we all had, like ants, waving from right to left. What were we doing there?

To dare to disturb its usual tranquility. His generally quiet street had become a shambles.

Obviously, humans are a strange race to him!

I'm sure our feline friend would have loved this gourmet salty stall!

But he rightly preferred to observe us ....

My video of the " Funky Muppets " ... I had to sneak in before I could find myself facing them to film them correctly ... at least I tried They were great and gave a groovy smile to the crowd.

Arriving at the Place du Vieux Marché, I find myself facing a charming couple from another era.

Costumed, accompanied by their barrel organ, I found myself in another time,

that of street singers from a distant time.

A real moment of happiness.

A clear voice from another time

A smile that takes us away

A song that drives us back into time ...

"I'm talking to you about a time that those under 20 cannot know ..."

The Belly Party 2018 - Rouen

If the bread could only have a crust, I would be delighted, not being a fan of the crumb

But there, I absolutely wanted to buy these breads baked over a wood fire in front of us. I love to buy directly  from producer* to customer. See the manufacturing is a plus.

This time the miracle happened: I ate the crumb. Dense and tasty. A real taste !

In order not to lose this huge country bread, we cut it in slices and put it in the freezer. One way to ensure the freshness of the bread when I toast it .... with butter and my mother's homemade jams! Yes, I am spoiled and greedy.

Vegetables of yesteryear

Already celebrated in the 1930s, the Normandy Belly and Gastronomy Festival in Rouen has become one of the region's unmissable events thanks to the Rouen Conquérant association, which has brought it up to date. This event takes place in the Old Market district, the historic center of the city and, because of the works in the city, was also transposed this year rue Jeanne d'Arc for its 19th edition.

 

There were also many foreign tourists whose enthusiasm and comments I was delighted to hear. It's a great pleasure and what a promotion abroad for producers, local exhibitors!
