Departmental Memorial Algeria-Morocco-Tunisia
-Carnot square, Rouen left bank-
Sculpture, made by Jean-Marc de Pas.
Two benches on which sit two women, with a void between them, symbolizing the pain and the absence of the missing one.
As art is subjective, I see two women who meet in pain. Two women of two different generations who want to make peace, for themselves but also for their country.
In this sculpture which I find very beautiful and expressive, I feel sadness and pain.
The strength of two women who have suffered too much but who have this strength to come together, even if the bringing together of their hand is hesitant, difficult. Very strong symbolism.

Carnot square-Left bank of Rouen

Two women, different countries, same pain.

Two hands that meet...

Hesitant but somehow sure to get together...

The History of the Algerian War as seen by an academic from Rouen-Mr. Rémi Dalisson

You have to think about all the victims...

In memory...

Never to be forgotten.
